Pet photo guide

A good photo keeps the little details feeling familiar.

You do not need professional equipment. Natural light, a clear view, and a photo that feels like your pet are the best place to start.

Photos that work best

Soft, natural light

Choose an evenly lit photo without harsh flash, heavy shadows, or a bright window behind your pet.

Face in clear focus

The eyes, nose, ears, and distinctive markings should be sharp enough to see comfortably.

Comfortable distance

A close portrait usually works better than a small pet photographed from far away.

True to their character

Technical quality matters, but so does choosing an expression that feels recognizably theirs.

Try to avoid

  • Blurry, pixelated, or heavily compressed screenshots.
  • Strong filters that change fur, eye, or nose color.
  • Important features hidden behind hands, furniture, clothing, or another pet.
  • Extreme overhead angles when the product needs a front-facing portrait.
  • Photos where the subject occupies only a very small part of the frame.

Common photo questions

Can I use a phone photo?

Yes. A clear, well-lit phone photo is often enough; the content matters more than the camera model.

Can I use a black-and-white or older photo?

You can upload it for evaluation. The final result depends on its resolution, contrast, and the selected product. Color should not be invented without your approval.

Can the photo include more than one pet?

Only products explicitly configured for multiple subjects should be ordered with multiple pets. Product-specific limits still need to be finalized.

Will my photo be shown publicly?

Not by default. Customization uploads are separate from public pet profiles and lost alerts that you choose to create. See our Privacy Policy for details.
